Students – Our Greatest Asset
Notre Dame's greatest asset is the caliber of student it attracts. Notre Dame had Rhodes Scholars each consecutive year from 2014-2016, the first three-year trend in its history. In addition, Notre Dame is among the top-producing institutions in the nation for Fulbright scholars, the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program.
These are students interested not just in a quality experience, but a meaningful one in which they can use their learning as an aid in seeking social justice. Over 80% of Notre Dame undergraduate students participate in community service, and approximately 10% of each year’s class spends a year or more in full-time volunteer service after graduation.
We find strength in our diversity, as well: 32% of undergraduates are U.S. students of color or international citizens, 7% are first generation college students, 38% of engineering students are women (twice the national average), and students hail from all 50 states and over 100 different countries.
